Outpour
In the Bible, a little book in the Old Testament carries a big message that is relevant for today. It was written by a man of God named Joel.
Sounding like he’s taken a page out of our headlines, Joel deals with the current events of his day like massive natural disaster, nations at war, and questions about the end of time.
Through it all, Joel seeks to answer the questions, “What is God doing in the midst of this seemingly pointless chaos?” “How now shall we live?” “Will God restore what we’ve lost?” “Can we once again experience an outpouring of God’s Spirit and blessing?”
Maybe your calamity has been personal, family, career, or community-wide. Maybe you are wondering if there can ever again be a restoration and an outpouring of blessing for your life. The message of Joel is that there’s hope for you.
Outpour :: Summer 2011
We know that Jesus changes everything for the better. Yet if we’re honest, most of us feel uneasy talking to others about Jesus. We have the idea that helping someone come to know Him means trying to convert strangers with memorized tactics.
God is the One who changes lives. Our privilege is to develop friendships with others as we listen to, then tell stories that will guide them into a relationship with the God who transforms lives.
Aren’t we all intrigued by stories? Let’s discover the stories of people around us, connecting our story with theirs, then sharing the story of Jesus in a way that leaves them wanting to know more.
Stories – What is theirs? What is yours? How about the story of Jesus? Woven together, they change everything for the better.
This weekend’s services are called “cvcPulse” because we’re taking a church-wide spiritual check-up.
We’re going to celebrate what God has done to change lives in the past few months at CVC. We’re also going to anticipate some of what we are asking God to do to change lives in the next few months at CVC. Finally, we’re going to give you opportunity to participate in what God is doing here at CVC as we seek to help each other grow to be passionate followers of Christ who love God, one another, and the world.
Jesus, I’m coming to You because I know I need to forgive. I know that can’t forgive on my own. I don’t have the grace in me to forgive on my own. So, I am bringing the hurt to You and laying it all at Your feet.
Please heal me from the inside out. I want to let go of this. Change my heart, O God.
Thank you Lord, for loving me and forgiving me. Thank You for supernaturally enabling me to forgive by the power of Your Holy Spirit. And thank You, Jesus, for setting me free.
Can you pray this prayer? Do you want to experience this forgiveness?
You can ... Forgive!
When God breathes His life into someone, it transforms them. Out of death comes life. Out of despair comes hope. God’s breath revives, renews, and ultimately brings life to what was once dead.
In the Bible, the prophet Ezekiel had a vision. He saw a valley full of dead, dry bones, but God’s breath brought new life. Through Resurrection Sunday, we will be studying through Ezekiel 37 and its message for us regarding new life.
We are passionate about continually seeking after God for His breath of life on our church and community. Join the pursuit. Then on Easter Sunday, celebrate the Resurrection’s meaning for renewed life that gives new life.
